Given what happened with their previous AID system interworking announcements, I find it difficult to trust them,. I've used 3 versions of medtronic pumps over 13 years, current one is the 670G and I did not upgrade when warranty expired November 2023. They should be embracing open systems, not rejecting them for the Apple closed shop mentality. Besides, I have alo experienced hairline cracking along the rear side of the cartridge cylinder in all 3 of the 6 series pumps I have had (one was a warranty replacement for the 670G) . It seems to me that the case design needs improvement as it appears to be a weakness.

I heard you could overlap when replacing the sensors so you don't have a 2 hour warn up time. Is this possible and how would it be done?

When might g7 work with on iPod 5? Any ideas?

I definitely didn't see this coming. But I wonder if Medtronic has been suffering from their own sensors being terrible. When I was upgrading from my old 670G last year, I decided to move away from Medtronic to escape their awful Guardian 3 sensors. My Medtronic rep said she'd heard similar complaints, and spent a lot of time telling me how the 4 was better, and offering me a big discount to convince me to stay with Medtronic. I expect they lose a pump sales because of their sensors. It doesn't really make sense as a company, they have the best pumps, and the worst sensors. Years of research and development has definitely improved their sensors, but they still seem to be at least a generation behind dexcom and libre sensors. I expect they could make more money long term through a good partnership and dropping their own development.

This blows my mind considering how greedy Medtronic has been with only allowing their own CGMs to work with their pumps.

Will the new Libre talk to the pump and control the flow of insulin from the pump so the bg of the user stays in normal range most of the time? I've just started using the Guardian 4 cgms with the 780 G pump. So far the 2 are getting along well.

We keep getting the wrong reading in the middle of the night. Wake up and test with another meter and bad results again. We can't rely on it so we're going to ask our doctor to get off of it or onto something that gives accurate results.

Does the Simplera work/connect to their InPen?

You said in the video you wore it for longer then 7days, does that mean you were able to restart it somehow/extend it's life?

Since i use Libre3 and Ypsomed, i wish that the apps could predict 2 hours in front, if not even 4-8 hours, and give suggestions to what to eat or how much karbs, at least if you are about to go "low" at night. So far it's really small chance to go low at night, if you have set up the correct settings, but yeah, better be prepared.

Appreciate this video. We need to draw a strong distinction between a 'smart algorithm' and actual AI. The algorithm in my tandem t:slim is phenomenal and I'm so glad I made the switch to their control-IQ technology. However, I would encourage anyone to research AI capabilities before giving them any medical decision-making authority. In its present state, AI can only reasonably used with a human chaperone to alert it when decisions are bad. This is fine for training AI, and it is alright when there exists a human chaperone, but for obvious reason it needs to be kept far away from anything it can seriously damage, especially in an insulin pump with no oversight.

If it's not iCGM it's pretty much a no-go for me. I also call BS on it needing an internet connection to give AI predictions.

Artificial intelligence what a bunch of nonsense, we are far from AI in any form.

Why should it require calibration even when it has AI?

I don't understand how a 2 hour prediction can possibly be relied on. All kinds of things affect your blood sugar. How is it going to take into account that I always rise when I'm driving because of anxiety? How is it going to predict all these other unseen factors that can cause wild swings in blood sugar? I like my dexcom just fine thanks. I don't want to put my life into AI hands (at least not yet, the tech is too new and untested). It's certainly an interesting device but I'll wait and see how this goes. Also having to be online with it for the AI to work? No thank you. ✌

They should be paying us for the data or making the CGM's free to use for the data.

Thank Emil. A lot of BS from Roche: They are behind dexcom on CGM field and need data. that's why they need internet access to collect your data. The training of a model may require some compute power, but once a model is trained, then the inference can be done very fast on a mobile cpu. I want my medical data local, combine it with other data coming from my watch (activity), and other sensors, maybe even my calendar and location. And I want to control my own software to integrate it all. Please roche... just make the devices and provide your users with the API's to connect to your devices and diabetics will make the best of your devices by writing wonderful software.

I would love to have this but Medtronic are saying that patients already on the 780g pump have been told they are going to have to wait until they can roll out an update to the old pumps which is very disappointing.

I ditched the Medtronic brand completely due to the guardian CGM sensor and the extremely proprietary supplies. There needs to be open standards that device manufacturers follow. I want to choose my pump, infusion set, algorithm , CGM. I’m interested in a 7 day infusion set but not enough to go back to Medtronic. But if open standard (same connection system) I could try and possibly give Medtronic that portion of my money. But on the flip side. If I had a Medtronic pump that would be the only part of their ecosystem I would own and possibly the infusion set. Dexcom CGM and a different algorithm.

I Started using the t:slim x2 pump with the Dexcom G7 sensors in May 2024 and its brilliant, really life changing. I'm able to connect the G7 sensor to my iPhone and Apple series 8 watch. So I can see my blood sugars at a glimpse of my watch. The Control-IQ from the pump is just amazing as it stops my sugars going too high or too low. Would highly recommend. It's given me back my life and confidence and my HbA1c results were the best they have ever been :)

Thanks for the review. It’s such a pity we probably won’t see it launch in South Africa any time soon. The G4 is the bane of my pump experience. The only options we have here are the 780g with G4 and the Tandem with G6/7.

My watch is literally on the same arm as my sensor and it will. Not. Connect. It’s been 7 hours now and keeps saying it’s trying to find a connection. My phone and sensor have no problem connecting, connection is strong, but my 6th gen watch absolutely won’t connect im so annoyed 😭

When you change the CGM, you can let it warm up, when your wearing the other one. So the warm up is taking less then 2 hours (so I heard)

What do you do if you want to swim? My experience has been an entire failure trying to use the 780G sensors recommended by Medtronic. This whole idea is a failure. I want a sensor much like the Dexcom sensor. 1 fully intact waterproof unit that allows a person to swim and immediately move out of the water, gather information and bolts .

Is the sync version out in the UK now?

If you were on tandem pump and Dexcom g6 would you swap to Medtronic 780g with simplera sensor?
